Core Common Assessments
The 7th Grade Science course has three core assessments: Core 1, Core 2, and Core 3. In the space below, we have a brief description of each, along with some answers to questions that are frequently asked about the core assessments.
CORE 1: This is a performance assessment called "The Density Assessment". The assessment is to be given to students during the Matter Unit of the course. The assessment deals with one of the properties of matter, density. Your building science coordinator will have copies for you.
CORE 2: This is also a performance assessment and is called "Predator Prey Assessment". This assessment is to occur during the Ecology Unit of the course. Your building science coordinator has copies.
CORE 3: These are 4 separate assessments that are administered just after the unit is completed. They are the Matter Core Assessment (25 items), the Energy Core Assessment (25 items), the Ecology Core Assessment (25 items), and the Animals Core Assessment (25 items).
These assessments are to rolled into the marking periods points. This is for 7th and 8th grade core assessments, not 9th grade.
These assessments can be adjusted for special education needs.
